The “Riopedrense” campus of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) opened its doors to more than 5,000 high school students from the public and private system throughout Puerto Rico in its Open House held on November 6 and 7.
This event, which receives a considerable number of students, is aimed at guiding new entrants on the admission process for the next academic year and publicizing the different offers that the university institution has.
The orientation day began at the UPR Theater where students received a warm welcome from different officials such as the Dean of Students, Gloria Díaz Urbina and the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, Carlos González. After the welcome, which was accompanied by audiovisual content and various artistic presentations by the Tuna UPR and the Dance Team UPR, the students were divided into groups and headed towards the different faculties and schools of the campus, according to their area of interest .
On the other hand, during the third session of Open House -from a total of four-, the students received a special visit from the president of the UPR, Dr. Jorge Haddock and the chancellor of the campus, Dr. Luis A. Ferrao Delgado, who passed to greet and address those present.
“Here at the University of Puerto Rico, they will not only have access to the best education, but they can also stand out in research, in community service, fine arts, sports and more,” said Dr. Haddock.
“No university in Puerto Rico, other than the UPR, has had Nobel Prize professors, so imagine the quality of our faculty,” added Dr. Ferrao, chancellor of the Riopedrense campus. “Fill out the application, now! We are in the best disposition to help them choose the best academic program for you, ”he concluded.
