Andrés J. Rodríguez Aponte will begin his doctoral studies next September in the doctoral program in Mathematics at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, of New York University. André’s area of interest is biomathematics, specifically in mathematical applications to human physiology. Andrés will receive the MacCracken Fellowship Scholarship from the Henry M. MacCracken Program. In 2015, Andrés participated in SAMMS (Sampling Advanced Mathematics for Minority Students) at Ohio State University. Adriana Morales Miranda will begin her doctoral studies next August at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. Adriana is interested in the area of biomathematics. Adriana will receive an instructor’s scholarship in conjunction with a scholarship from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundations Minority Ph.D. (MPHD) program. This scholarship was created in 1995 by the foundation for doctoral students belonging to minorities with low representation in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
