Projective Geometry and Asymptotics of Differential Equations, Robert R. Bruner, Wayne State University, Thu, 5 March, 2009, 11:00 a.m. A-233
Abstract
Projective space is the natural setting in which to determine the asymptotic behavior of solutions to differential equations. We will derive simple
formulas for asymptotic information using the geometry of projective space,
rescaling of time and blowing up.
While the methods are elementary, they do not seem well known, especially considering their effectiveness. The talk should be comprehensible to
advanced undergraduates.
