TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

COLLEGE OF NATURAL SCIENCES


The Department of Mathematics, College of Natural Sciences at the Río Piedras Campus of the University of Puerto Rico announces a search to fill one tenure track faculty position in Probability and Statistics with an emphasis in applied areas to begin on August 1st, 2021.

Requirements: Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or very closely related discipline from an accredited university. Exceptional candidates in other areas of Mathematics could also be considered. Must have teaching experience at the university level, capacity for effective in person and online teaching, publications in academic journals, availability for projects and practice supervision, capacity for research in their area of expertise, commitment to excellence in teaching, demonstrate knowledge in the use of educational technologies and proficiency in Spanish and English. Preferably with professional experience in preparation of proposals for external funds.

Responsibilities: To teach in person and online undergraduate and graduate levels during the day, night, and Saturdays. Conduct research and publish in their areas of expertise in peer review journals. Supervise thesis, dissertations and professional practices. Develop proposals seeking external funding. Participate actively in committees and in departmental and university service activities and projects as well as comply with all the responsibilities of the teaching staff contained in the General Regulations of the UPR.

Deadline for submitting documents is April 26, 2021. Applicants must send: 1) American Mathematical Society (AMS) cover sheet; 2) intention letter describing their academic vision in teaching and research, research areas and publication 3) updated curriculum vitae; 4) official academic credentials of all their degrees; 6) evidence of their research, publications and creative work, including the most relevant publications, or links to ResearchID, ORCID, and Google scholar; 7) student and peers assessments, if available; 8) three recommendation letters to:
