Abstract
We know that 4 = 3+1 = 2+2 = 2+1+1 = 1+1+1+1, and so we say that there are 5 partitions of 4. Although partitions may seem like the stuff of child's play, they play many central roles in algebra, combinatorics, mathematical physics, and number theory. In this talk I will describe some new statistical properties of partitions which give a wide spectrum of distributions. This is joint work with Michael Griffin, Larry Rolen, and Wei-Lun Tsai
