The web page of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department of the University of Puerto Rico
site was originally written and coded in 1995 by Philip Pennance who served as webmaster until January 2004 and more recently as of August 2007. The current page was recoded in September 2007 in compliance (well almost) with XHTML 1.0 (Strict) and CSS2 and to facilitate dynamic generation of pages using PhP and MySQL. The visual design is based upon that of the precursor UPR Natural Science site thereby providing a smooth transition between the two pages. Site development was carried out with the aid of MAMP, a combination of Apache, MySQL and PhP. Editing tools used included TextMate, TeXShop Typeit4me, SimpleTeX4ht and CSSEdit. Graphics were handled using GraphicConverter. The character encoding employed is UTF-8.
